![]() Each month a new dog or cat is presented for evaluation and treatment of a serious medical condition. The veterinarians at Highland Park Animal Hospital devise a treatment plan based on physical examination, radiographs, blood work and other diagnostics. Most candidates require some surgical procedure or medical treatment, such as fracture repair, arthrodesis, exploratory laparatomy or complicated heartworm treatment. During the postoperative period the staff of Highland Park Animal Hospital provides compassionate nursing care for these patients. The socialization they receive during this time greatly enhances their adoptability later. When they are sufficiently recovered they are placed in permanent, loving homes. While we do rehabilitate and adopt out sick and injured animals that are brought to us by other rescue organizations, we do not have the facilities to adopt out strays and foundlings.
