Dr. John Vandermeer
Dr. John Vandermeer is a native of Highland Park and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1983. He received his undergraduate education in Biomedical Science at Texas A & M University and his Veterinary degree from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation in 1990, Dr. Vandermeer returned to Dallas and joined Highland Park Animal Hospital. Dr. Vandermeer's professional interests include orthopedic surgery and endoscopy.

In 2001, he founded the Hard Luck Hound and Kitty Society, which works to provide medical services to seriously ill or injured homeless animals. He has served on the Texas Veterinary Medical Association Board of Directors, as president of Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association Board in 2008 and as president of the Dallas Emergency Animal Clinic. He currently serves on the board of directors for the SPCA of Texas and the board of directors for Southwestern Diabetic Foundation (which runs Camp Sweeney, a summer camp for diabetic children).

He and his wife Dr. Wendy Dearixon live in University Park with their three children Emily, Marshall, and Hannah. In his spare time Dr. Vandermeer enjoys playing basketball, fishing and spending time at his country retreat with his family. They have two dogs and two cats – Rosie, Pedro, Ed and Harley.


Dr. Polly Dixon
Dr. Polly Dixon considers both Colorado and New Mexico home. She received her undergraduate education in Microbiology at Colorado State University and her Veterinary degree at the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated with honors and distinguished herself by receiving the Merk award for outstanding clinical performance as a 4th year student.

Dr. Dixon has been with Highland Park Animal Hospital since 1998 and her areas of special interest include feline and canine internal medicine, clinical pathology and critical care. She is a member of the Phi Zeta National Veterinary Honor Society, the Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Dixon has four cats, Rebel Rambo, Bonzerelli, Groucho and Oliver.

Dr. Ben Morse
Dr. Ben Morse grew up in Richardson, Texas and attended Berkner High School. He received his veterinary prerequisites from Hendricks College in Arkansas and began his veterinary medical studies at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts with an emphasis on zoonotic diseases. He finished his clinical rotations at Oklahoma State University and joined Highland Park Animal Hospital in 2003.

Dr. Morse's special interests include ultrasonography, internal medicine and surgery. He is a member of the Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association, the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Morse enjoys being outdoors and is an avid runner and golfer. He has a Labrador Retriever named Bernie.

Dr. Amanda Henry
Dr. Henry, a native of Houston, TX, has lived in Dallas and practiced at Highland Park Animal Hospital since 2007. She is a two-time honors graduate of Texas A&M University receiving her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include surgery and dentistry. Dr. Henry is a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary National Honor Society, AVMA, TVMA, and local DCVMA.

Outside of the practice, Dr. Henry serves on the Dallas Animal Shelter Commission as a representative for her district and as the veterinary liaison. Additionally, she and her husband are the co-chairs for the Cotes du Coeur Society of the American Heart Association. At home, they have two adorable miniature dachshunds, Abe and Lincoln, and one of our former Hard Luck Hounds, Lebowski. In her free time she enjoys watching college sports, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
