THE DOCTORS OF VICKERY PLACE ANIMAL HOSPITAL Dr. Wendy Dearixon Dr. Wendy Dearixon is a native of Houston and graduate of Klein High School. She received her undergraduate education in Biochemistry at Texas A & M University and her Veterinary degree in 1990 from the Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Dearixon returned to Houston to practice small animal medicine for a year before moving to Dallas. Her professional interests include ultrasonography, soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology. Dr. Dearixon is a member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and has served on its Board of Directors for six years. She is also a member of the AVMA, Dallas County VMA and is active with Christian Veterinary Misson. Dr. Dearixon spends her free time horseback riding, jogging, and otherwise enjoying the great outdoors with her family. Her husband, John Vandermeer, is also a veterinarian, and they have three children, Emily, Marshall and Hannah. Four horses, three dogs, one cat, a boa constrictor and a tank full of fish round out their family. Dr. Laura Beckworth Dr. Laura Beckworth joined Vickery Place Animal Hospital in November of 2010. She attended Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi from 1999-2003 to earn a Bachelor of Science degree with Magna Cum Laude honors, and then attended Texas A&M University - College of Veterinary Medicine from 2003-2007 to obtain her Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine. She is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. She has two four-legged furry pets - a black Labrador mix named Hartley J and a Dachshund mix name Marla Moo. Dr. Beckworth enjoys the outdoors and loves riding motorcycles and playing sports, especially softball and volleyball. She also has an interest in photography.
